Belgium side KAS Eupen have confirmed talks are underway with English Premier League side West Ham over the transfer of last season joint top scorer in the Belgium league Henry Onyekuru.
Onyekuru scored 24 goals last season for the modest Belgian side, and as expected won admirers from top clubs in Belgium, Germany, Scotland and England.
The forward however made it known that he desires to play in England, hence knocking off other teams interested in his services from outside England, but despite reported interest from Newcastle United, Swansea City, and news of Arsenal agreeing a fee for his transfer, a top official of his Belgium club have confirmed only West Ham have tabled an offer for Onyekuru.
” We received inquiries from all of the teams mentioned but only West Ham followed up with a firm bid. For now that is the only bid we have on the table. Thanks”, he said in a mail to Owngoalnigeria.com.
The former Aspire Academy graduate who failed to make the matchday squad for Nigeria in yesterday’s 0-2 loss against South Africa in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers will travel to England tomorrow for potential talks and medical with any team that can meet his asking price.
