Nigerian duo of Kingsley Sokari and Junior Ajayi tasted the bitter pill of defeat as their Tunisian side CS Sfaxien fell 0-1 to Zarzis, a defeat that ended their title aspirations and also hand the title to Etoile du Sahel.
Sfaxien were two points behind leaders Etoile du Sahel with two games left prior to today’s loss and a win would have extended the battle for the championship till the last day but defeat to Zarzis coupled with Etoile’s 2-1 victory over Gafsa hands the title to the team that pay the bills of Nigeria U-23 forward Godspower Aniefiok Tower.
Aside losing the title to Etoile du Sahel Sfaxien could as well miss out on a place in next year CAF Champions League as the defeat saw them drop from second to third on the log, two points behind Esperance who won 2-0 against Stade Gabesien.
The final round of games will be played on Sunday with Sfaxien welcoming AS Kasserine while Esperance will play away to Gafsa as both teams slug it out for the second spot with champions Etoile set to get a guard of honour when they travel to play Avenir de La Marsa in their final game of the season.
