According to reports gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com the Nigeria Football Federation are close to announcing Serbia’s Alexsandar Rogic as coach of the Nigeria senior national team.
NFF technical committee chairman Chris Green will travel to Europe next week to hold talks with the coaches pencilled down for the job although reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com has it that there is a clear favourite for the job.
34 year old Rogic is reportedly ahead of former Black Stars of Ghana coach Goran Stefanovic and incumbent coach of Uganda Milutin Sredojevic populary refereed to as Micho in the race to replace current interim manager of Nigeria Salisu Abubakar.
However Micho is still in with a big chance as his wealth of experience and knowledge of African football is the best among the trio as he has spent twelve years in Africa and he is presently a game away from qualifying Uganda from next year Africa cup of Nations.
Rogic also has experience of working as he worked in Ghana for one year as assistant coach to Stefanovic who is also in the running for the job from 2011 to 2012 and he is presently occupying same role in China with Chinese side Hebei Zhongji.
The third Serb on the NFF shortlist Stefanovic presently handles Greek second division side Agrotikos Asteras and aside working in Ghana as head coach of their national team he has also been involved in the national team set up of Serbia where he was assistant manager from 2003-2006.
