Super Eagles out of favour midfielder Nosa Igiebor found the back of the net in the 13th and 69th minute to lift Maccabi Tel Aviv to a resounding first leg 3-0 victory over Croatian side Gorica.
The AFCON 2013 winner with the Super Eagles of Nigeria had his brace sandwiched in between a strike from Orlando Sa which gives them a comfortable 3-0 first leg advantage ahead of the second leg in Croatia.
Igiebor reportedly one of the highest paid players in the Israeli league had a not too impressive season during the recently concluded season but his goal scoring start to competitive football this time around suggest he could recapture the form that made him play for Spanish side Real Betis.
The 25 year old started his European career with Lillestrom in Norway before moving to Hapoel Tel Aviv of Israel three years later where he left after just a season to join Real Betis of Spain.
His time in the La-Liga was far from pleasant and after two unhappy season at the Estadio Benito Villamarin he returned to Israel where he is getting set for his third season with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
