Former Liverpool and English Premier League legend Jamie Carragher believes Alex Iwobi is at his best when he plays from the midfield, than on the wings.
Carragher made this submission while analysing Arsenal’s 5-1 hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie at the Allianz Arena.
While he believed the youngster has talent beyond talent, he feels he is comfortable playing as a midfielder than as a winger, where he is required to do a lot of tracking back.
” He (Iwobi) was poor, he looked lost as a winger, tonight he was badly exposed but I honestly think he is wasting away as a winger. He has the calmness and strength that Ozil lacks in the midfield”, Carragher said.
” Ozil has failed to convince in the middle, but Wenger still prefers him to Iwobi who has impressed in badges when played through the middle”.
