Highly sought after Nigerian forward Adeleke Akinyemi returned to Latvia yesterday after Ventspils signed an agreement to provide special security arrangements for him.
The 20 year old went missing after a dispute with the club over signing a new deal, which will erase his buy out clause which presently stand at €300,000.
In a chat with Owngoalnigeria.com, his representative revealed that the club tried to force the free scoring striker to sign an extension at gun point, which led to his decision to flee the country for his safety.
After close to a week in Belgium, the forward who has 13 league goals in 17 games for Ventspils in Latvia returned to the country yesterday and even featured in their 1-0 win over Liepaja.
Linked with a host of clubs after his seven goals in four Europa League games, Akinyemi agreed to return after the club signed an agreement on his safety,following intervention from the country’s FA.
