The Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) and their counterparts from Uganda have agreed a friendly game between both nations and it will be played Asaba, Delta State at the Stephen Keshi Stadium according to reports monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com.
Both nations will be meeting in a friendly encounter for the second time in three years after Uganda defeated Nigeria in their last match up 1-0 as part of the opening ceremony of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Nigeria are eyeing qualification for the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year and the game will be played after their AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie against South Africa, which could potentially seal their spot at the tournament.
The game is expected to serve as warm up for both nations ahead of their engagements at the AFCON with Uganda also a win away from securing their spot at the African soccer fiesta, which comes up once in two years.
An official statement will be released soon but a top source in the NFF confirmed talks are well underway but per a quote by coach Gernot Rohr the playing surface of the stadium need to be worked on as it isn’t befitting for a game of the senior national team of Nigeria.
Rohr made the comments shortly after watching Enugu Rangers 4-2 win over Kano Pillars in the final match of the Aiteo Cup, a game which Rangers recover from three goals down to force the game into shoot out, where they eventually triumphed.
