Ahead of Nigeria’s game against South Africa in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers one player who could provide the cutting edge for Nigeria could be Levante of Spain forward Moses Simon.
Simon as seen in the Super Eagles World Cup Qualifiers campaign gives the team the much needed balance due to his ability to defend, which creates space for whoever is playing at full back to venture forward.
Shehu Abdullahi benefited from his defending abilities, little wonder he has struggled to match same form for the Super Eagles in the absence of Simon and the Levante forward could provide same balance against Bafana Bafana.
Against Bafana Bafana, the Eagles need to deny their opponents space particularly on the flanks to whip in crosses and that’s where Simon could be key due to his defending abilities.
He can also be of help in attack as he can pop up unnoticed into the box with his abilities to run at his markers another part of his game which defenders struggle to cope with in one on one duels.
South Africa will be very organized as usual but Simon can help the Eagles distort their organisation with all of the qualities listed above giving him the edge over other midfielders in the team.
