The clamour for home base players to be included in the squad of the Super Eagles has dominated discussions the past few weeks mostly due to Nigeria’s qualification for next year Africa Cup of Nations.
With Nigeria already through to the tournament with a game to spare, many have called on coach Gernot Rohr to prosecute the game against Seychelles with a squad largely made up of home based players.
Rohr was asked about the possibility of having a squad of largely NPFL players prosecute the Seychelles game and the coach responded by saying he will use only the best players for Nigeria regardless of where they play.
He also said he can’t be forced to pick players by his employers before confessing his love for players based at home although he did say some of them are not up to the level of the foreign based players in his team.
