Rotherham United Nigeria international defender Semi Ajayi was the surprise choice in the Infogoal English Championship team of the week considering the fact that his team were beaten 1-3 away to Norwich City.
Ajayi was selected by the portal as the best central defender after last week round of games in the English Championship for his performance despite his team conceding three goals.
He made the back four of the team of the week as the partner to Jake Cooper in central defence with the duo of Aston Villa Alan Hutton and QPR Angel Ranger manning the left full back and right full back slot respectively.
This season Ajayi has impressed mightily playing as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder for Rotherham United and that has helped him break into the squad of the senior national team of Nigeria.
With three caps to his name, he is expected to make the Nigerian team to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as back up to the preferred duo of Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong, he has however filled in admirably well at right back and also as a defensive midfielder for the Super Eagles.
