The drag between Nigeria and Germany for the international future of Germany youth international Jordan Torunarigha is one that will certainly drag on for a while.
Torunarigha initially turned down the chance to represent Nigeria prior to the World Cup but the 21 year old in an interview with Germany based Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba revealed he is open to the idea of representing Nigeria.
His comments will no doubt spur coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr to once again push to have him in his team, something that Germany are working really hard to prevent from happening.
Both nations are refusing to back down in their quest to have him play for them at senior level due to so many qualities which is rare to find in a central defender these days.
He is a left footed central backs which means coaches have the added flexibility of playing three at the back with Jordan effortlessly slotting into the role of the left central defender.
Goal scoring is also another strength of the German-Nigerian defender as he has averaged at least a goal since his debut for the U19s of Hertha Berlin in 2016. In the Bundesliga he has scored three goals in the three seasons he has played so far.
Bar his ability to contribute goals in attack he is also a solid man marker who can fill in at left full back and what is more surprising is his near perfect record when it comes to picking up cards. The only card he has picked up in the Bundesliga was the red card he got on the 17th of December 2013 against RB Leipzig.
No doubt he will improve the defence line of any of the country he decide to play for and for now Germany are leading Nigeria as he has played for them at youth level but ruling out the chances of Nigeria luring him will be a big mistake on their part.
