President of Spanish second division side Deportivo La Coruna has revealed why the club decided to terminate the loan deal of Nigeria international goalkeeper Francis Uzoho with fellow second division side Elche.
Uzoho was supposed to spend a season at the club on loan from Deportivo La Coruna but the deal was terminated after the 20 year old lost his first choice spot to Edgar Badia who arrived in January on loan from Barcelona.
” Elche broke their promise of giving him minutes. We have to search for where he will get games and develop because we believe he will be useful to us in the future ‘, president of Deportivo La Coruna Tino Fernandez said.
Explaining his proposed move to Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta, the president said they received several offers to have Uzoho on loan but the Anorthosis were the only team who wanted him for a deal till the end of the summer while other wanted him for way longer, something they rejected outrightly.
” It’s possible for him to join another club but we wait still to see if he will remain with us till the end of the season or go elsewhere but we know it will be hard to hang on to him till the end of the season. Some of the proposals we received were loan deal beyond June this year, so we did not accept it”, he stated.
The goalkeeper who kept goal for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia played ten games for Elche with seven coming in the league and three in the Copa Del Rey before they were eliminated . He conceded a total of ten goals and kept three clean sheets.
