Despite agreeing to a switch of allegiance German-Nigerian Hoffenheim striker Chinedu Ekene has pulled out of the Nigerian team preparing for the World Youth Championship in Poland, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Ekene was named among the foreign based players after agreeing to dump Germany where he captained the U16 team for Nigeria but he didn’t turn up at their camp in Germany.
He however contacted the technical crew and told them he is nursing an injury hence wouldn’t be able to make it to the camp of the team and the tournament as well. An excuse the technical crew are not comfortable with.
They feel he is yet to be fully convinced about the switch of allegiance despite assurances from coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr hence the coaches have named a replacement.
Everton 18 year old teen wonder Korede Adedoyin will take his spot as one of the strikers in the team and he is expected to arrive the camp of the team tomorrow but will miss the friendly game against Saudi Arabia.
