The success story of Nigeria international winger Samuel Chukwueze at Laliga side Villarreal has impacted on the career of three other Nigerian players, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Villarreal has signed the Nigerian trio of Chukwuka Johnson, Aimufua Junior and Johnson Kalu after a trial tournament organised by Geelec Football Academy with the support of Nigerian intermediary Babawo Mohammed.
Johnson, Junior and Kalu are already in Spain where they will start with the B team of the Laliga side where their progress will be monitored for promotion to the senior team, same ladder Chukwueze used before establishing himself in the first team.
Junior is a striker who was signed from Moonluck FC of Lagos after impressing scouts of Villarreal who were in Nigeria for the trail tournament, Chukwuka Johnson was signed from Geelec Academy after impressing as a right winger during the trial tournament.
Kalu played for Family Love FC of Port Hacourt during the trial tournament and he impressed playing as an attacking midfielder much to the delight of the Villarreal scouts hence the deal to join the team.
Explaining the success of the trio after the scouting event, Babawo said their move to Villarreal brings to 12 the number of players he help transfer to Europe the past six months after trial events where scouts from top European teams were present.
