As the dust about cash for spots in the senior national team of Nigeria continue to drag on over the allegations made by former Schalke 04 forward Chinedu Obasi, Michael Eneramo has provided another angle to the tale.

Eneramo was a part of the Super Eagles from 2008 to 2010 and took part in the qualifiers for the World Cup and also the African Cup of Nations but wasn’t selected for both tournaments but the one he is focused on is that of the 2010 World Cup.

The former Esperance of Tunisia goal king said his details which includes his name, jersey number, passport data and others was already forwarded to FIFA for the 2010 World Cup but he was shocked when he was later told his name wasn’t in the list.

According to Eneramo, his spot was given to Obasi after a friendly game. An action which made him regret the decision to play for Nigeria ahead of Tunisia who had wanted him to play for their national team owing to his exploits while at Esperance.

” Obasi can’t deny that he didn’t go to the World Cup 2010 on merit. It was my spot that was handed to him after my details have been submitted to FIFA. It happened after one friendly game and the excuse they used in removing my name was that I was injured but it wasn’t true”, Eneramo told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” I was so pained by the decision because I had the chance of representing Tunisia but turned it down to play for Nigeria. Although we pipped them to the World Cup ticket I still feel maybe I should have played for them instead of Nigeria judging by how I was treated”, he concluded.
