Super Eagles List For World Cup Playoff Against Ghana, No Dennis, Three Players Added To AFCON Squad

Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Austine Eguavoen has started work on the list of players who will be in the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup playoff against Ghana in March.

OwnGoalNigeria.com exclusively gathered that the coach has decided to commence work early as he will remain at the helm for the 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana. No thanks to the breakdown in talks with Jose Peseiro.

The Portuguese coach was announced as the new permanent coach of the Nigerian team but talks appears to have broken down over certain clauses in his contract leading to a collapse in the plans to make him the new coach of the Nigerian team.

Eguavoen who is well aware of the situation has commenced work on the game against Ghana and his idea is to keep 95% of the players who played at the Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria crashed out at the round of 16 by losing 0-1 to Tunisia.

We gathered three players will be added to the team in Victor Osimhen, Leon Balogun and Oghenekaro Etebo and their inclusion could come at the expense of Olisa Ndah, Peter Olayinka and Henry Onyekuru.

Sources also told this portal that Watford rave of the moment Emmanuel Dennis won’t be in the squad for the playoff but will likely be given a look in if the team qualifies for the tournament proper. Even that is dependent on his form.

A member of the backroom staff of the Austine Eguavoen led team said the Watford ace missed out on a big chance to be a part of the team owing to his decision to shun an invitation to be a part of the team for the AFCON.
