The Nigerian contingent at English Premier League side Crystal Palace has swelled by one following the decision of the club to hand professional terms to 17 year old defender Eyimofe “Mofe” Jemide, OwnGoalNigeria.com understands.
Eyimofe who is a centre back progressed through the ranks at the club and has been a regular for the U18 this season. He has also trained with the first team on few occasions this season.
His performances have now been rewarded with his first professor deal according to ace Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwuna, who broke the news on his official handle on social media platform X.
“At about 3pm, or just after that, on Wednesday, at @CPFC’s training ground, this 17-year-old defender, Eyimofe “Mofe” Jemide, a son of a very old friend and nephew of a childhood buddy of mine, will be signing a three-year @premierleague players contract – with an option for a further year. I wish you the very best of luck, @Mofe_Jemide. I look forward to seeing you become a top-class player. Work hard and stay focused”, he posted.
Although he has represented England ten times at U17 level, he is still eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level. However his main objective will be to make the step up to the U23 or possibly the first team in the nearest future.
