English Championship side Charlton have announced the invitation of Arthur Okonkwo to the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers games later this month, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
In a post on their social media handle, the club announced that the 24 year old goalkeeper is in line for his competitive debut for Nigeria in the AFCON qualifiers.
Super Eagles will begin their campaign to be at the 2027 AFCON with a home tie in Uyo against Madagascar on the 23rd of September before traveling to keep a date with Guinea-Bissau four days later.
Okonkwo who has joined Charlton from fellow Championship side Wrexham made his international debut for Nigeria during the summer Unity Cup tournament.
He posted back to back clean sheet against Zimbabwe and Jamaica respectively, helping Nigeria to retain the title they won last year. It was his first set of games for Nigeria after switching his international allegiance from England to Nigeria.
His invitation puts him in line for his competitive debut but he faces strong competition from the duo of Stanley Nwabali and Maduka Okoye.
