31 year old Nigeria forward Obafemi Martins who was recently handed a recall to the Nigeria senior team has joined the bandwagon of big name players moving to the Far East after he completed a multi -million dollar move to a Chinese Super League team.
Martins will join Shanghai Shenhua from Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders few weeks after he was heavily linked with a return to the English Premier League but thanks to agent Tony Harris and his lawyer Soroosh Abdi he will now join fellow African Demba Ba ironically both players at a point in time played for Newcastle United in England.
Since joining MLS side Seattle Sounders in 2013 from Levante in Spain the forward who have played in Italy,Germany,Russia and Spain has 43 goals to his name from 84 games and for two season running finished as his team top scorer.
Internationally since his debut in 2004 he has scored 18 goals in 41 games for Nigeria but till date he is fondly remembered for scoring the winner for Birmingham City in the final of the Carling cup in 2011 as they secure a shock 2-1 win to win their first title since 1963.
