Super Eagles first choice goalkepper Carl Ikeme was at his best behind the stick for his English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers but failed to stop them from losing 2-1 to Middlesbrough.
The 28 year old Super Eagles shot stopper was twice beaten by Gaston Ramirez in the 24th and 57th minutes respectively but there was little he could do to stop both efforts from going in.
Boro’s first goal was turned in by an unmarked Ramirez at the far post in the 24th minute leaving Ikeme with no chance and the second goal took a deflection that looped the ball away from the reach of the Nigerian.
However his saves kept the scoreline modest for Wolves particularly at the start of the second half when he tipped a Rhodes headed effort over the bar.
The games was his 23rd of the season with three clean sheets from his last six games despite his team poor defensive record this season.
He wasn’t the only Nigerian on parade for Wolves as son of Nigeria’s ex international Dominic Iorfa, Dominic Iorfa junior also played the entire duration of the game and picked up a booking in the 23rd minute of the game.
