Super Eagles midfielder Eddy Ogenyi Onazi returned to the starting line-up for Lazio and played a big role in helping them beat Atalanta 2-1 in the Serie A.
23 year old Onazi who has failed to play in Lazio’s last nine games prior to yesterday game reminded the manager of his usefulness to the team with a strong display at the Stadio Olimpico.
Lazio winless in their last three games in the Serie A gave the Nigerian a rare start and he didn’t disappoint for the 81st minute he spent on the pitch.
He was his usual self covering every blade of the pitch and making key interceptions a trademark of his game that made him untouchable at Lazio the last two seasons.
However he tired out towards the end presumably that’s why he was replaced with nine minutes of normal time left to play but he will be hoping he has done enough to keep his place in the team.
Lazio’s next game is in the Europa league on Thursday and Onazi will be hoping he keeps his place in the team for the game which he might potentially square up against his Jos born friend Kehinde Fatai who plays for Sparta Prague.
