Little known Nigerian forward Stanley Ejike Awurum ended his four game goal drought to score his 13th goal of the season to help 10 man Varzim beat Sporting Lisbon II 2-1.
Awurum is the top scorer for his team who are presently 9th on the 24 team segunda division table in Portugal and with just over 12 months left to run on his current deal Varzim could be forced to cash in on the 25 year old.
In his first season with Varzim then in the third division he scored 12 times from 38 games to help them gain promotion to the second division where he has already matched his last season tally despite playing three games less.
He arrived Portugal from Mozambique second division team Chibuito where against all odds his goals powered them to the country’s FA Cup final as well as a second place finish on the log of the second division.
