Kingsley Sokari of CS Sfaxien and FC Porto’s rising star Chidozie Awaziem won’t be lining up for Nigeria at the Rio Olympics as they are not part of coach Samson Siasia 60 man provisional list for the tournament.
Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that the duo who were heavily tipped to be included in the team at least for camping were snubbed by the coach who went for other players in their position.
Sokari started with the U-23 team when camping first began two years ago but fell out with Siasia prior to the U-23 AFCON for absconding camp to honour a league game for Enyimba.
Since then he has been in the cooler while FC Porto rising star Awaziem who is rated among the top ten teen centre backs in Europe was rumoured to be close to getting invited to help shore the team’s backline that conceded six goals in a recent game against Denmark.
Nigeria will depart for camping at the ending of this month with over 30 players expected to be a part of the party to Atlanta where they could possibly be joined by other players before a final list of 23 is called for the Rio Olympics.
