Highly controversial former Super Eagles defender Emeka Ezeugo popularly referred to as the destroyer in his playing days says only one player in the present team can make the team of 94.
Widely regarded as one of the finest team Nigeria has ever produced, the defender who was a part of the squad to the World Cup in 1994 says the Eagles are no longer have players opponents are sacred to play against.
He was particular about the options available to coach Gernot Rohr in defence, insisting that a team with a potent attack force will no doubt exploit some weakness he has noticed in the defence.
” Unless we want to sugar-coat the truth. If we are honest, we no longer have quality players who are feared across Africa in the Super Eagles, yes we have players in big clubs but are they the main men at their clubs?.
” Victor Moses for now is the only one playing for a team that has emerged champions in a big league. The rest are scattered around teams in Europe with very few of them commanding a starting shirt.
” Our defence is my main headache. We don’t have enough options. I see so many areas which opponent can explore against us. Looking at the team only Leon Balogun is good enough for the 94 team. He is a brilliant defender, you must give it to him”.
