Manager of Belgium UEFA Champions League campaigners Anderlecht has confirmed that Henry Onyekuru was details away from joining French Ligue 1 giants PSG before Everton signed him.
Speaking to HLN Sport, Herman Van Holsbeeck confirmed news earlier reported on this portal and several others that the 20 year old, who is on loan at Anderlecht from Everton underwent medical at PSG as reported.
Onyekuru became the toast of many European side after his stunning 24 goal haul for modest Belgium side KAS Eupen last season. He ended up signing a five year deal with Everton, but he could easily have ended up at PSG.
According to Van Holsbeeck, PSG already had plans in place to loan him to Antwerp after his signing, before Everton stepped in to sign him, before subsequently sending him on loan to Anderlecht.
” Henry Onyekuru was on his way to PSG, and they would have loaned him to Antwerp. He underwent a medical with PSG, before he signed with Everton (and went on loan to Anderlecht) “, he said.
