Captain of the senior national team of Nigeria John Obi Mikel has left the door open over a possible return to English Premier League side Chelsea, where he spent ten and half seasons.
Mikel is presently playing for Chinese side Tianjin Teda after leaving Chelsea in January, biut despite admitting he is enjoying life in his new surroundings, the 31 year old refused to rule out a return to Stamford Bridge.
Speaking exclusively to Owngoalnigeria.com shortly after helping Nigeria secure qualification to the World Cup in Russia, Mikel said he is open to the idea of returning to Chelsea in the future.
” I didn’t have the chance to say goodbye on the pitch to the fans who stood by me for over ten years, that itself is enough motivation for me to want to return “, Mikel told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” I’m very happy in China but then what I have learnt is that in football anything can happen. Chelsea is home to me due to my close relationship with the management of the team but I’m happy in China “.
