An explanation as to why coach Gernot Rohr rates Deportivo La Coruna 19 year old goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho has been provided by a member of the backroom staff of the Nigeria national team.
Uzoho is in line for his debut when Nigeria take on Argentina tomorrow in a high profile friendly in Russia as Rohr has been overtly impressed with the qualities of the shot stopper.
” He is well loved by coach Rohr due to several attributes he has seen in Uzoho which he believes modern day goalkeepers should possess if they want to go far”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” Uzoho has one thing working for him as soon as you see him. He is a big lad and Germans like their goalkeepers big, reasons why former Super Eagles coach Berti Vogts preferred Austin Ejide to Vincent Enyeama few years ago.
” Aside his physical attribute, Uzoho is also very good at taking crosses, he commands his area very well and with all due respect to the goalkeepers we have now, Uzoho is the best in playing with his legs, something Rohr likes a lot”.
