Mainz 05 Nigerian defender Leon Balogun will undergo a late fitness test which will determine his starting role for Nigeria when they take on Serbia in tonight’s international friendly tie.
Balogun went off injured in Nigeria’s win over Poland on Friday, with Kenneth Omeruo replacing him in the second half of the game which Nigeria won 1-0, and he could yet play again unless Balogun passes a late fitness test.
Although Balogun came through their last training session unscathed, Rohr still has doubts over his overall fitness hence has placed Omeruo in his stead in the line up for today’s game, which as expected has been published on Owngoalnigeria.com.
If he passes the fitness test, he will continue his “Oyibo Wall” central defence partnership with William Troost-Ekong with Tyronne Ebuehi the only new defender introduced in the starting line up that played against Serbia.
Ebuehi takes the place of the injured Shehu Abdullahi, who although trained normally is still not deemed fit enough to start today’s game by Rohr.
