Gernot Rohr is beginning to work on his preferred formation in defence ahead of Nigeria’s game against Seychelles on Saturday in the race to qualify for next year Africa Cup of Nations.

The defence of the Nigerian team has caused lot of concern to many, following the injury forced absence of both options at right back in Tyronne Ebuehi and Shehu Abdullahi has dominated discussions particularly when Ola Aina pulled out as well due to injury.

William Troost-Ekong the regular centre back pair of Leon Balogun also pulled out injured further increasing the problem of the defence of the Nigerian team ahead of the game, where winning should be their aim after losing their first qualifiers game 0-2 against South Africa in Uyo.

During yesterday’s session witnessed by Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent, coach Gernot Rohr played Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia defender Bryan Idowu at right back as opposed to his role as left back with the Nigerian team since his emergence in December.

Newly invited Paderborn defender Jamilu Collins played from the left full back position with the pair of Kenneth Omeruo and Leon Balogun playing as central defenders during the training session.

It appears it could be the preferred line up in defence for Nigeria but a final decision will be reached later today after their final training session according to reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team.
