Few hours after lashing out at the Super Eagles as weak in comparison with South Africa, coach of the national team of Libya has apologised over the comments he made shortly after his side forced South Africa to a 0-0 draw.
Adel Amrouche criticise the Nigerian team and went ahead to say they rely more on voodoo to win games than their natural ability unlike his side who are entirely reliant on God.
“Believe me I prefer to play Nigeria than South Africa because I have the experience to play against them. South Africa is a fantastic team and have fantastic players and it’s not easy to play against them.
“For me, I’m ready for Nigeria; if they want we can play both games in Nigeria; they believe in juju and we believe in God,” Amrouche said.
The coach whose side will play against Nigeria in back to back Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers says he was merely joking when he made the comments about Nigeria and subsequently said he is sorry if the joke didn’t go down well with Nigerians.
“I was just joking and didn’t mean to disrespect Nigeria in any way. I am very sorry for what I said. I respect Nigeria a lot and have many Nigerian friends, whom I hold in the highest regard… I want to play our next match in a good atmosphere, so it is important that I make things right, so the fans don’t have any bad feelings,” he told respected Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwuna.
