In a bid to keep interested teams at arm length German side Hamburg have moved swiftly to tie midfielder Jonas David to a new contract which will terminate in the summer of 2021, the club has announced.
18 year old Jonas was in the final year of his contract at the club and with his recent performance with the youth team earning him a spot in the first team, the club decided to secure his future for another three years.
Already the German-Nigerian midfielder has confirmed his international future is with Nigeria in an interview with Owngoalnigeria.com and with his future now sorted his next step will be to make himself a regular with the first team.
Confident as a holding midfielder or as a number ten, his immediate target with the Nigerian team is to earn a spot in the squad of the U20s for their engagement in the African U20 Cup of Nations next year.
