Cross section of Super Eagles players have voiced their disappointment with coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr over his open criticism of Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Rohr while speaking before the Super Eagles game against Seychelles called on Iheanacho to be more professional and also urged him to work hard in training and matches to get back to his best level for club and country.
The criticism hasn’t gone down well with his teammates with about four of them who spoke with Owngoalnigeria.com on the condition of anonymity angry that such statements should not be made by a national team coach before the rest of the world.
Iheanacho according to one of the players is having a tough time at his club and he need the support of all to get back to his best and not criticism which could further dampen his morale and also place him against the fans of his club and country.
Speaking a very vocal member of the Super Eagles dressing room said Iheanacho isn’t the first player who has struggled at club level but he is the first to be punished for his poor club form while others notably Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Ahmed Musa, Francis Uzoho and even team captain Mikel Obi were treated differently.
