A lot of players are facing uncertain future as the summer draws near, players of the senior national team of Nigeria are no exempted from the queue, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
We take a look at five players of the Super Eagles who will be forced into making a decision on their next port of call at the end of the current season.
Kelechi Iheanacho – His contract at promotion chasing Leicester City runs out in the summer and an extension isn’t on the cards. The 27 year old who has found games hard to comeby since returning from the AFCON has five goals and one assist this season. He is one to put an eye on when the season ends.
Samuel Kalu – Presently on loan to Swiss side Lausanne-Sport from Watford. The 26 year old is expected to return to the championship side at the end of the season. At his temporary base in Switzerland he hasn’t had the best of time with three goals and two assists in 15 games. With a year left on his deal at Watford at the end of this season, the club will be open to a permanent transfer as they bid to recoup some of the money spent in signing him from French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux.
Emmanuel Dennis – In his second loan spell away from Nottingham Forest, Dennis hasn’t had the best of season despite returning to Watford, the club where he had his most productive season in front of goal during their stint in the English Premier League. Forest are open to letting him leave in the summer especially with their current financial issue which has led to a sanction by the English Premier League.
Paul Onuachu – Not quite the same like the guy who terrorizes defence in Belgium since his move to Southampton. A loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor appears to have helped him get back on track, but a foreman fracture denied him the chance to hit double digit goals leaving him stuck with nine goals in 17 games. He will return to Southampton where a permanent exit will be decided in the summer.
Leon Balogun – His case is a bit weird because for some time he hasn’t had the best of time at club football, but always shows his class when he plays for the senior national team of Nigeria. At 35 and with his short term deal at Rangers set to expire in the summer, Balogun will likely consider retirement or maybe a return to Germany, where he started his career.
