The head coach of South Africa Hugo Broos yesterday revealed the list of players who will prosecute their upcoming world cup qualifiers games against Nigeria and Zimbabwe respectively.
Broos decision to include Burnley’s forward Lyle Foster hasn’t gone down well with a section of the media and fans of the senior national team, who are pained by the decision of the forward to snub taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
In the build up to the AFCON Foster withdrew’ from all football related activities for a period in 2023 to deal with mental health issues. He left football from the end of October till the middle of December when he made himself available for selection again.
It meant he missed the AFCON but after getting the all clear to continue his career, the striker with five goals in the English Premier League this season for relegated Burnley is expected to lead the line against the Super Eagles on the 7th of June in Uyo.
His return to international football is seen as a huge improvement in the squad of Bafana Bafana, who are second on the log in the group behind surprise leaders Rwanda.
