The list of players who will represent Nigeria in the upcoming world cup qualifiers games against South Africa and Benin Republic respectively is expected to be made public by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) by the weekend, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Newly appointed coach Finidi George has already sent out provisional invitations to 35 players ahead of the games, and a final 25 man list will be made public after this weekend round of games in Europe, per what we exclusively gathered.
The delay is due to the fact that some players expected to be in the list are currently facing a race against time to be fit for the games, with a decision expected to be taken on their participation later this week.
Already the technical crew has lined up replacements for the players who are in doubt for the games, and among them is a relatively unknown winger in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
” The idea will be to call up a player from the NPFL if Chukwueze isn’t passed fit. We have four of them in the provisional list hence moving them to the main list won’t be an issue at all. There is a winger there who will no doubt replace Chukwueze if he isn’t fit for these games”, a source at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) hinted.
