The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has begged the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to temper justice with mercy after the suspended game against the senior national team of Nigeria,OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

CAF suspended the AFCON qualifiers game between Libya and Nigeria after the Nigerian team was left stranded at the airport 16 hours upon arrival for the game, with Libyan authority instructing their flight away from it’s initial landing base to an abandoned airport, 300km away from the city of the game.

Nasser Al-Suwaie the Secretary-General of the football body in Libya, who is now in charge of running football in the country in the aftermath of the resignation of the FA president says they have responded to the query served on them by CAF.

Al-Suwaie added that the Libyan Federation did not change the course of the plane’s landing to Al-Abraq Airport, and the reason for changing the plane’s landing to Al-Abraq was a decision by the Libyan state, and that the sovereignty of the Libyan state must be respected by everyone.

In their submission he begged for mercy for their act of leaving the Super Eagles stranded at the airport for over 18 hours, saying it was due to logistics issues after the diversion of the flight which wasn’t done by the football association.

Speaking to the media in Libya, he said they hope to get a favourable judgement from CAF, but expressed fears that some certain individuals in CAF are pushing for the decision to favour Nigeria. An alarm which can best be described as false.

In a statement released by the NFF Al-Suwaie was called upon the arrival of the Nigerian team in Libya, and promised to be with them in 30 minutes time. A promise he made twice before finally switching off his phone. An act that was recorded and submitted to CAF by the Nigerian authority.

Also their claims that they were badly treated by Nigeria has been trashed by CAF as it was addressed during the pre match meeting ahead of the 1-0 win for Nigeria in Uyo, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) stated their part which was accepted by all parties.
