Highly respected Spanish journalist Guillem Balagué has picked Nigeria international forward Sadiq Umar as the best January signing in ten LaLiga owing to how the fortunes of Valencia has changed since then on loan from Real Sociedad.
Sadiq has 5 goals from 12 games, and it includes crucial goals that has rescued the team from defeat like his first goal at the club which helped them to a 1-1 draw against Villarreal, his brace in the 2-2 draw against Osasuna, the winner in the 2-1 win over Real Valladolid and last weekend he was on hand to rescue them from defeat scoring to tie scores at 1-1.
Such has been his impact that there are talks about making the deal permanent after helping the team rise from 19th when he joined to 13th on the table and just four points off eight placed team.
Suspended for yesterday’s game against Espanyol , Balagué while speaking on his absence for LaLiga TV said his signing has taken the team to expected heights owing to his goals in crucial games.
” They will miss Sadiq because he gives them a different way to play regardless of if he starts or comes in from the bench. He is to me the best January signing with the manner which he has scored crucial goals. The team is better when he plays”, he said.
