The sporting director of French Ligue 1 side Nice has defended the harsh words he used in describing the current state of Nigeria international striker Terem Moffi at the club, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Moffi fell out with the club’s hierarchy for the lack of support after he was attacked by fans of the club last season. He left on loan to Portuguese side FC Porto in January but they refused to take the option of signing him permanently following the expiration of the loan.
Nice sporting director Roger Ricort while defending his statement about Moffi (“We don’t necessarily respect the man, but we’re obliged to respect the player”), said ” He trains with us every day. I have nothing against him, but why should it always be up to the clubs to keep quiet?
“Don’t players sometimes show a lack of respect toward the clubs? Maybe it was misunderstood, but I just want people to understand that here, we don’t do just anything”, he concluded.
The representative of the forward have been busy searching for a new club for him, and reports suggest a breakthrough will likely be on the cards before the end of the ongoing summer transfer window.
