Head coach of Monaco Felipe Luis has sent his apologies to Nigeria international midfielder Christantus Uche for the horror tackle he suffered in his team’s 1-0 win over Getafe, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Uche was at the receiving end of a nasty tackle from Christian Mawissa who was sent off. It left everyone fearing the worst judging by how high the boot of the Monaco defender was and how it landed with force on his chin.
Shortly after the end of the match, Getafe issued a medical report revealing the results of the first tests on Uche which isn’t as bad as initially feared: “After the first tests and clinical examination carried out by the club’s medical services, Christantus Uche presents a contusion to the kneecap of his right leg, caused by the blow suffered during the match against AS Monaco.
Getafe also added in their official statement that ” the player is awaiting further tests to fully assess the extent of the injury. His availability will depend on his clinical progress.” Therefore, the Nigerian player is waiting for more tests to determine when he will be cleared to return to the pitch”.
Speaking at a press conference after the game Luis sent his words to the Nigerian wishing him a quick recovery. ” I am truly sorry for Christantus Uche. We never want to see this kind of thing happen on the pitch. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he can return as soon as possible”, he said.
