Newly capped Nigeria international goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo will leave English Championship side Wrexham before the end of the ongoing summer transfer window, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Wrexham has informed the 24 year old who has one year left in his deal that he is free to leave, and they are open to even let him leave on loan provided that the other club will take his wage off their bill.
There preference for an outright sale is however clear , and that is what is holding his move to fellow Championship side Charlton, who contacted Wrexham over a loan deal but were told a permanent sale is the club’s priority.
Talks are still ongoing with Charlton, which is his priority destination despite offer from English League One side Leicester City. He prefers the Championship to keep his spot in the senior national team of Nigeria.
Capped twice at senior level by Nigeria during the summer international break he has played 121 matches for Wrexham, including 39 in the Championship last season.
