Nice have accepted an offer from Hamburg for Nigerian forward Terem Moffi, as first reported by Nice-Matin. He must now reach an agreement with the Bundesliga club.
The fee was not disclosed. Nice were keen to take the striker’s sizeable wages of their bill , since he is under contract until 2027. They wanted to create space for one of their target in Elye Wahi. There has been no significant progress with Frankfurt despite discussions over a paid loan.
Ineos had wanted a high fee, close to the eight million euros option discussed with FC Porto during his six-month loan last winter, but have given the green light at a lower price.
Facing competition from Turkish side Samsunspor, Hamburg have been pursuing the deal for weeks, with Moffi demanding to know if he will be guaranteed a starting spot and regular playing time which Samsunspor already promised him.
Since his return from loan, Moffi has trained diligently through the summer, which pleased new coach Olivier Pantaloni and his staff. He however didn’t feature in any pre-season matches, although it was considered.
Signed during a period of heavy Ineos investment, Moffi has been at Nice since 2023. If the transfer goes through as expected he will be leaving Nice after scoring 24 goals in 72 official appearances.
