Former president of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) Ibrahim Musa Gusau aimed a dig at his predecessor Amaju Pinnick while delivering his resignation speech earlier today, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Gusau who stepped down from his role alongside his board members following four years of failure in his tenure as president, revealed that the Super Eagles current deal with Nike negotiated by the Pinnick’s adminstration was paying them pittance.
He confirmed a new shirt deal with Adidas, which is a remarkable improvement financially from the present deal with Nike, saying the new deal can handle the salary of the coach of the Super Eagles and that of the Super Falcons.
In his words, the NFF under his administration 🇳🇬agreed a new deal with Adidas worth $8.5m annually. The partnership will provide $4.5m in cash and $4m worth of equipment and kits for Nigeria’s national teams, following the end of the current Nike contract.
The current deal with Nike is worth just $500,000 a year, negotiated by the Amaju Pinnick administration.
