Christopher Nkunku has been denied his favourite shirt number at RB Leipzig following his return to the club he left three seasons ago , OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
After two unhappy years in England plus a loan spell in the second half of last season with AC Milan he returned to the club on a permanent transfer, but discovered that his favourite shirt number is no longer available.
He was in the squad for the Bundesliga opener against Borussia Mönchengladbach for the first time – with a new jersey number.
Many fans know the 28-year-old primarily with the number 18 on his back. Even after leaving Cottaweg, he remained loyal to his jersey number and wore it at both Chelsea and AC Milan.
However, Suleman Sani is already wearing number 18 for RB Leipzig this season. Due to Bundesliga and cup regulations, a change of jersey number during the current season is no longer possible. Therefore, the Frenchman will wear number 28 upon his return.
