22 year old Alverca of Portugal left back Isaac James is favoured to be the replacement for injured Zaidu Sanusi in the Super Eagles preparations for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers in September, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
James has been on the radar of the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle, since last season where he had his breakthrough at the Portuguese side following his arrival for free from French side Lorient.
This season Chelle has posted his scouts to watch the young left back on three separate occasions, and was heavily impressed with the reports he received.
With the abductor injury to Zaidu which will keep him out for two months, the coach will no doubt look his way although he faces tough competition from the duo of Ola Aina and Bright Osayi-Samuel, who have also been deployed in that role aside their primary role as right back.
Bruno Onyemaechi will however retain his position as the first choice going into the games.
