Former Nigeria youth international Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Belgium top league side Royal Excel Mouscron on a season long loan deal from English Premier League side Liverpool, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
19 year old Awoniyi has spent time on loan in Germany with FSV Frankfurt and also in Holland where he played for NEC Nijmegen since joining Liverpool two summers ago.
Still not eligible for a work permit in England, he will be hoping for better luck in his current team than at his previous team’s where he endured the pains of relegation for the two teams he has played for on loan.
Highly regarded as the apparent heir to former Nigeria goal king Rashidi Yekini, Awoniyi is blessed with a rare trait for a teenager when he is in the box, as evidence in his exploit for Nigeria U17,20 & 23 all within a space of two years.
