Gusau Out: Amaju Pinnick Favored To Lead NFF Interim Committee

0

Barring a last minute change former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick will head the proposed interim committee that will run Nigerian football for three months, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

There is every likelihood that the proposed election into the board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) won’t happen, paving the way for the Ibrahim Musa led Gusau board to be dissolved with an interim committee set up.

Already there has been pressure on the board to step down in the wake of the failure of the women team to make it to the world cup for the first time. Less than a year after the men’s team missed out on the world cup for the second consecutive edition.

Gusau and his board are battling to remain and have dragged the matter to the attention of FIFA, who have assured them of their support against any form of government interference, but that hasn’t deterred the presidency.

They have ordered the National Sports Commission (NSC) to restructure Nigerian football and it starts with the axing of the current board of the NFF, and the setting up of an interim committee.

The choice of Pinnick to lead the committee we gathered hasn’t gone down well with certain people in the football setup, and it’s still under heavy debate and scrutiny as at the time of this report.

How Brits Will Watch Some of the Top Super Eagles Talents for the 2026/27 Season

0

British football fans see their sporting lives dominated by headlines from the Premier League. Even those who follow clubs in lower divisions or in Scotland or Wales will still gravitate to the goings on of the most prestigious domestic league in world football.

This season, there’ll be several who’re watching stars of the Super Eagles, both established and up-and-coming. Before the end of the transfer window, nine Nigerians were set to play for Premier League clubs – the same as the US and more than Norway, Senegal, or even Northern Ireland.

Where to Watch the Premier League’s Super Eagles

Fans in the UK have seen their coverage of the EPL split between two broadcasters – and occasionally three – for over a decade now. The primary carrier is Sky Sports, which delivers all of the Saturday afternoon games, Sunday games, Monday games, and some midweek games, totaling over 210 matches shown live.

The other channel or platform is TNT Sports. They get the early Saturday game, midweek fixtures, but also, crucially, cover the UEFA Champions League. Being a part of Warner Bros., and following the entry of HBO Max to the UK market, they also offer a way to live stream through the popular entertainment app.

Sky also uses Now TV to leverage this growing desire to stream in the UK. This is also the angle Amazon wiggled into on its odd Premier League showings. Brits have swiftly adopted live streams as the go-to, from sports coverage to the online live casino UK players can access, and where there’s a distinct crossover between the two.

Sports Unlimited Blackjack, Sports Arena The Sun Vegas, Sports Roulette, and Sports Blackjack 1 have found a hefty British audience thanks to their crossing over of casino games and football coverage. So, during the 3 o’clock blackout when Premier League games can’t be shown live, some will keep up with the action while playing here.

Super Eagles Called Upon to Dig Deep this Season

Two of the most high-profile Nigerians in the Premier League are at the same club. Fulham is home to both Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi, and both have become a relied upon presence in the dressing room. In recent seasons, Fulham have done well to establish themselves as a top-half team, but boss Marco Silva left in the summer.

In comes a manager with incredible pedigree and an eye on European competition in the form of Álvaro Arbeloa. Iwobi and Bassey will be needed to keep it tight in midfield and the back as the squad grows into his new formula. From an established Premier League to the top newcomers, Coventry City have brought in two Super Eagles.

Seeking power and pace in the midfield and up top, as has been covered by PTNG as a reuniting of teammates, Coventry first signed Frank Onyeka and then leapt at the opportunity to add Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest. Back at Awoniyi’s old club, Ola Aina is primed to thrive in Oliver Glasner’s defensive setup.

Beyond those five star players, Premier League fans will be looking to new and promising arrivals for Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Hull City – where Semi Ajayi also looks to play a big role – to shine in 2026/27.

Top NFF Officials Head To Presidential Villa Amid Resignation Drama

0

The moment of truth appears to have arrived for Nigerian football, following indications that members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee have been asked to report to the Presidential Villa amid mounting pressure on the leadership of the federation.

Information reaching us suggests that an email was sent to members of the NFF Executive Committee yesterday, directing them to report at the Presidential Villa today.

According to sources, the meeting could culminate in members of the Executive Committee formally signing resignation letters, a development that, if completed, would effectively bring the tenure of the current NFF leadership to an abrupt end.

As of the latest count, at least six members of the Executive Committee are said to have indicated their readiness to honour the invitation and appear at the Villa today.

Meanwhile, there is growing uncertainty among members of the NFF Congress, with more than 20 congressmen reportedly gathered in Kano and awaiting further instructions.

The congressmen had initially been summoned to Kano, from where they were expected to proceed to Katsina later today for the final of the Gusau/Alhan Cup competition, which comes to an end this weekend.

However, sources claim there may have been another motive behind the gathering.

The original plan, according to information available to us, was for the congressmen to use the occasion to pass a vote of confidence in NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau and his Executive Committee in a show of solidarity with the embattled football leadership. That plan has now been thrown into serious uncertainty.

As of 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, both the NFF President and the General Secretary were reportedly unreachable, further heightening tension and speculation over what could happen in the coming hours.

All eyes are now firmly fixed on the Presidential Villa.

Will the invited Executive Committee members sign resignation letters? What becomes of the planned gathering in Katsina? And, most importantly, is Nigeria football finally on the verge of a major leadership shake-up?

The moment of truth is here.

The battle for the future of Nigerian football has entered a decisive phase, and with developments unfolding by the hour, the game is becoming more intriguing with every passing moment.

The hat trick brings Yusuf up to 5 goals and 2 assists this year, the most goals he’s ever scored in a single season in his entire career.

He became the eighth player in club history to score a hat trick in a regular-season match and the first to do so since Kei Kamara nine years ago.

Sevilla Forced Into Making U-turn On Exit Of Super Eagles Star

0

Spanish LaLiga side Sevilla have reinstated Nigeria international Chidera Ejuke into their squad for next season after a failed attempt to push him out of the club , OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Ejuke was left out of their pre season games and trained separately from the team until last week when a decision was reached to return him back to the setup.

Sevilla took the step due to a lack of interest in the 28 year old, and it was why he played the final 13 minutes of their opening league game against Rayo Vallecano which they won 2-1.

Their failure to land Adrian Liso from Real Zaragoza following his move to Mallorca means they miss out on their top target on the flank. It was largely due to the lack of interest in Ejuke hence they couldn’t free up a space in their squad and wage bill for Liso.

The club will however not commit to keeping him beyond the end of the transfer window, despite the fact that only Belgium side Anderlecht made an offer to sign him. A move which didn’t materialize due to his wages deemed as excessive by the Belgians.
