Why We Didn’t Terminate Enyeama’s Contract Unlike Others Not Wanted By Bielsa – Lille

Coach of French Ligue 1 side Lille Marcelo Bielsa has dropped a hint on why he asked former captain of the senior national team of Nigeria Vincent Enyeama and ten others to stay away from the team when he took over as coach in the summer.

Bielsa cited the need to curb indiscipline in his team as part of the reason why he let go of the experienced players in the summer, and the Argentine coach mentioned Vincent Enyeama as one of the players he had to let go to avoid any act of indiscipline.

He made this known while reacting to a question on how he would have handled the Patrice Evra incident ( kicked a fan during warm up) if he was still the coach of Ligue 1 side Marseille.

The coach said in his bid to curb such sad incident happening at Lille he has to let go of Enyeama and others although he said he wouldn’t love to comment on the Evra issue as he is not well informed about the incident.

” This is a situation ( Evra kicking a fan) that is part of a reality which I do not know in full details, which is why I do not have an opinion to make”, Bielsa told L’equipe.

” I saw the other day that Rudi Garcia ( Coach of Marseille shortly after their 1-0 win over Lille) said without wanting to interfere, that it would probably have been better for Enyeama, Basa and Mavuba to remain in my team.

” I’ve always said that to build an option you need a very solid factual bases. Obviously I value Basa, Enyeama and Mavuba, but what I’m saying is that I do not want to repeat a conduct which seems to be wrong to me, that is to say, to express an opinion on things of which I do not have all the in and out details”.
