FC Porto Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem won’t be heading to Turkish side Trabzonspor after the club were handed a transfer ban by FIFA, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Trabzonspor are yet to clear some of the fees due to some clubs on past transfer dealings and after several warnings, FIFA earlier today slammed a ban on them from conducting transfer this winter.
Awaziem who is finding it hard to get games at Porto was high on the radar of the club for a loan deal but the move won’t materialise due to the ban which will run for six months.
It means fellow Portuguese side Maritimo are now favorite to sign the 21 year old on loan for the rest of the season and they will be hoping he makes a similar impact to what he did during his last loan spell in France with Nantes.
The defender is in danger of missing out on a spot in the Nigerian team to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations unless he sort out his club form before the close of the January transfer window.
