The role of Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze at Italian Serie A side AC Milan under new coach Rueben Amorim has been cleared, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Amorim took over as coach of the team in the summer, and confirmed that Chukwueze who just returned from a loan spell at English Premier League side Fulham will be part of his plans for next season.
Reports were that following the decision by Fulham not to activate the option of mandatory purchase, Amorim has decided to work with the Nigerian in a new role which is at right wing back. An idea that has been dismissed as false.
The Portuguese manager greatly admires the Nigerian technical qualities and from the first day of the pre season training camp, Amorim placed Chukwueze wide on the right in his four-man midfield, in a role reminiscent of his successful experience at Villarreal, where he would start on the right and move inside to create disruption in the attacking midfield.
After experimenting with him from the very first day of pre-season and seeing encouraging signs against Celtic, the derby against Inter will be another important test to determine whether the solution can work against stronger opposition.
The gam will form the decision on his role going into the season rather than the much publicised wing back role widely reported by a lot of media houses.
