The future of newly capped Nigeria international defender Chibuike Nwaiwu is still unresolved as we head into the decisive weeks of the ongoing summer transfer window, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Nwaiwu moved to Turkish side Trabzonspor in the January transfer window, but has made himself the subject of so many interest after a storming six months in Turkey.
His performances alerted the head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle, who gave him his international debut and top clubs in Europe are now looking at signing him from Trabzonspor.
English Premier League side Fulham failed with a bid, and Crystal Palace held talks over having him in their squad. Both offers were rejected by the Turkish side and the president gave reasons why.
Reports say they want a fee in excess of €30m and so far no club has been able to meet their valuation, a development which the club president confirmed.
“The offer we’ve been waiting for Chibuike Nwaiwu didn’t come. We’re not considering selling at these figures, ” Ertuğrul Doğan he was quoted as saying by 61saat.
